Appearing for the TOEFL involves long preparations, and getting a specific score. It is also is a stressful experience. The ideal scenario for attaining success here is to begin the preparations for the TOEFL in advance.  Additionally, this step will reduce the stress level. We present five effective strategies in TOEFL preparation:

1. Taking down the notes:

TOEFL offers listening to the audio clips only once. Candidates need to answer many questions, or speak well, or write on a particular subject. Replaying the audio is not allowed and hence there is a need to take down notes well. Practice this exercise in the native language or also in English. Also do not miss anything that the speaker says. It is better to listen to many audio clips of diverse lengths and complexity levels. Pay attention to small and elementary things and also the legibility of handwriting. The ability to take notes in a confident manner and recording all the information in real time helps to score well in the TOEFL.

2. Take practice tests:

The aim of preparing for this test is to get a specific score. It is important to take practice tests. Practice tests will help to feel the test environment, and inform regarding the question types, and the challenges that you may face on a big day.

3. Reading every day:

Build a strong vocabulary by reading. More broad reading offers more exposure to you regarding the concepts. It also adds to comprehension skills, expands the range of subjects, and also makes one comfortable.

4. Listen to podcasts:

There is a wealth of knowledge in English-language talk radios working online. Listen to native speakers at their natural speed and boost listening comprehension. Develop speaking skills by playing back the podcast once or twice. Also, try to mimic the pronunciation. Podcasts are a boost for better listening comprehension.

5. Learn to touch type:

Finally, The writing section requires typing the answers on an unfamiliar computer with a different QWERTY keyboard. Do not spend all the time struggling with the keyboard, as it is simple to master it with some preparation. Type quickly on a QWERTY keyboard before the test date arrives. There are online tools to help in learning this type of typing.
