IELTS scores: Writing tasks 1 and 2

In the writing paper candidates score lowest in the I.E.L.T.S. We look into the common reasons in this matter.

Task 1

Candidates have to plan before they commence writing the answer and must also read the question carefully.  They miss or fail to mention major points, and also misread information. Another anomaly is to report incorrect facts. Task 1 tests the ability to report facts, notice the emerging patterns, and emphasize major features.  Learn to illustrate facts with data, note the important points, and use superlatives added with emphatic language. Task 2

There are rewards when you think of good examples for illustrating the problem and writing a solution. The important points to note here are offering an effective explanation, discussing cause and effect and offering proper explanation for arguments.

Have a range of words

A good I.E.L.T.S. score indicates that candidates can use a wide range of great words in the task. These have to be accurate and advanced and the use of idiomatic language in examples is good. Think of a wide range of structures that are useful and accurate and include them in the writing plan.

  • Make a list of proper and relevant vocabulary and also include these words.
  • Use the associated words of a scenario.
  • Show that you can develop the argument and ensure that you transfer all the features of the language from your plan in the report/essay.
  • Avoid confusion do not write long sentences to avoid a decline in scoring.
  • Plan carefully to avoid committing common mistakes of repeating a favorite structure again and again.
  • Also do not start every sentence in the same manner. Examiners judge a range of tenses passive voice, relative clauses, noun phrases, and defining clauses.
  • Avoid mistakes of plurals, subject-verb agreements and articles.
  • Check every verb and form correct tenses.
  • Have a plan, and check what you write.

IELTS scores: Speaking

  • Speaking is a live test, where there is no second chance.
  • Furthermore do not spoil your fluency.
  • Help the examiner by making an easy conversation.
  • Do not make them work hard to get information, and have a good pronunciation.
  • Make a fast formulation of the next sentence.
  • Additionally, speak clearly and smoothly and avoid quick speaking.
  • Do not give very short answers.
  • In case of mispronouncing candidates lose points.

IELTS scores: Listening and Reading

The scores in I.E.L.T.S. are a reflection of your vocabulary and how you can recognize linking as well as referencing language. The candidates must identify negatives and also understand that they change meanings of sentences. Moreover they are effective for emphasis in a sentence.

Taking up the listening test, anticipate the word or a number, or a name of a place. Stay on the current section and also check the answers. Do not read ahead.

Reading is important
